The Schlumpf Collection is on display in France at the National Museum in Mulhouse, the Cité de l’Automobile

The Schlumpf Collection may be the most prestigious car collection in the world. This is demonstrated by the two of the only 6 made Bugatti Royales, including the famous Coupé Napoléon, the 150 Bugatti, Hispano-Suiza, Ferrari, Rolls-Royce, Maserati, Maybach, Mercedes models, etc.
It was in a former Mulhouse woollen mill, with its typically 19th century architecture, that Fritz Schlumpf established his fabulous collection of 437 cars belonging to 97 different brands. With part of on display at the Cité de l’Automobile, it is certainly a must see if you get to France
The collection was seized by the workers employed by the Schlumpf brothers, who had collected for years, and topped off their collection when Hispano Suiza needed to liquidate many of the Bugatti assets in 1963 after having purchased the Bugatti company. The Schlumpfs puchased Ettore Bugatti’s personal Bugatti Royale and many original spares and patterns—over the strong objections of the managing director and Roland Bugatti, Ettore Bugatti’s surviving son.
In 1971 the union of workers that had been restoring the cars, building restaurants, and a hotel that would have housed guests to the collection, went on strike, and years later the French government seized all of the Schlumpf assetts, including 437 vehicles. The strike was part of what forced the brothers to flee to Switzerland, echoing Bugatti's flight to Paris in the 1937 strike. Here's another car I'd never heard of, the "Chinese Eye" 1965 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud

Read about it http://www.automobilesdeluxe.tv/1965-rolls-royce-silver-cloud-chinese-eye-drophead-coupe-and-its-for-sale/ but it doesn't say if this was a coachbuilt custom, or a factory design

Fashion and Jewelry at Grammy Awards 2011

At Lets Talk Jewelry, it would be a crime if we talk bout red carpet, and special star studded nights and do not talk about the bling factor. Who was wearing what, how many carats, the most expensive jewelry and the most stylish.

VOTE FOR MUMMY IN THE MAZE

As an addendum to the post right below this one, I recommend that you vote for MUMMY IN THE MAZE as "Best Short Film" (number 8 on the RONDO ballot)

Sure, my good friend Strangestein (aka Brian Nichols made it) and I ravingly reviewed it - - but that's because I ravingly LOVED IT! It has creative set designs, creepy sound effects, unsettling musical cues, strong and believable acting, and a psychological plot motivation that resonates (at least with me). If you chose to vote for the RONDO, and haven't seen any of the other entries for category #8, trust ol' rogue evolent and cast your thumbs up for Brian Nichols and his MUMMY IN THE MAZE!

gracias

It's that time of year again fellow horror fans and monster-kids! Be sure to vote for the 2011 RONDO HATTON Awards. This is the 9th year in a row now that David Colton, Kerry Gammill, and Gary Prange (the 'mods' behind the best all-around Monster/Horror/Genre chat room in the world) have held this fan voting. It's fun. It needs no other excuse!
Go to one of the two sites below and just follow the directions.

SATURDAY'S COVER(ed) # 7

I love the music of The Moon Rays! It's a combination of light jazz, lounge-pop, retro bossa nova, instrumental soundtracks, and beach surf (with a hint of garage...maybe). It's FUN!

While I've got their complete discography, I'm featuring this album cover art because it's got a nice skeletal "horror mojo" vibe going.

Some of the tracks on this Cd are: "Blues for Vampira, The Grim Creeper, Little Green Men, and La Valse Du Vampir."

Check 'em out at their Facebook locale: http://www.facebook.com/pages/the-Moon-Rays/8031692732

or at their MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/moonrays

While not from the album featured above, here is a nice little tune they did for a motion picture. Enjoy!

Michelle Obama on her Fashion Style

First Lady Michelle Obama is loved for her classic sense of fashion as much as she loved for her social activism.

This Wednesday she appeared with Today’s Matt Laurer to discuss variety of topics ranging from her husband’s ongoing fight against child obesity and the fact that he has now quit smoking. And as the interview proceeded, came the topic of her sartorial decisions.

Michelle Obama H&M dress

Along with many designers such as Peter Pinto, Jason Wu, Isabel Toledo, First Lady also bought the fashion of wearing pearl strands and brooches back in vogue. On this particular occasion she was wearing a very feminine polka dress from a not so fancy named designer, but an just an off the rack H&M dress worth just $34.95.

When she was asked about the public fascination of her personal style, she said that she takes it as a compliment and she also explained, “It's not something I focus on ... Everybody's got to get dressed in the morning and put on something. I hope people find it nice, but it's not something I focus on.”

Obama said that it is practicality, more than anything that decides what she will be wearing, "It's really just sort of, how cold is it? Do I have to stand outside, and what am I going to use to cover my arms if I'm freezing so I'm not shivering while I have to give a speech? It's really stuff like that.”

Elvis’ Ring up for Auction

Elvis Presley remains one of the most bankable names, when it comes to celebrity collectibles. The Upcoming Signature Music and Entertainment at Heritage Auction, Beverly Hills features Elves Presley’s Star Sapphire Ring along with many other celebrity items such as Marlyn Monroe’s Long Underwear and Beatles ‘Butcher’ cover records.

Elvis Presley Ring

This nugget ring with black star sapphire was one of King’s favorite. The 14K Yellow Gold has also. Elvis was often seen wearing this ring in the 1970’s, after which he gifted it to his tour promoter, Tom Hulett. The ring is estimated to be worth $15,000.
